Westminster Presbyterian Church recently purchased the West Willow Community Church building and grounds, providing a new home to the Westminster members and joining both congregations into the newly-formed Westminster Church. Westminster pastor Tim Palmer said his congregation completed the purchase this month, and has moved into the West Willow Community Church location at 2217 Constitution. Westminster split from First Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Church USA to form its own congregation in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in October 2011. Story first reported by the Enid News and Eagle.

Oklahoma’s state agency overseeing mental health and substance abuse could undergo a significant transition under Gov. Kevin Stitt, who has already appointed brand new members to its board and has said his wife will play a central role in related policy. After the Legislature gave him new powers last month to hire agency directors and appoint new board members, Stitt announced five members — all of them new — to the Board of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. The new members are Courtney L. Knoblock of Tulsa; Hossein Moini of Lawton; Kristin F. Stacy of Blanchard; A. Jeanne Russell of Tulsa; and Gary Cox of Edmond.

Vandals spray-painted racist, anti-gay and anti-Semitic remarks outside the headquarters of the Oklahoma Democratic Party and offices of the Chickasaw Nation, officials said Thursday, and police are investigating the incidents as hate crimes. Racist and anti-Semitic epithets were spray painted on the front door, walkway and other areas outside the state Democratic Party headquarters in Oklahoma City, said former Democratic Gov. David Walters, who owns the building with his wife, Rhonda. Swastikas were also spray-painted onto the doors.
